My Why Story
When I was younger, I did not grow up with a silver spoon in my mouth…My father was an autobody man and worked extremely hard to support our family…Autobody is a dirty, sweaty, hard & uncomfortable job, but he had started his own business and I know he wanted me to follow in his footsteps, but it was not in my DNA. I loved sports but also knew I wasn’t going to make a living being a professional athlete. High School was quickly coming to an end and I needed to figure out what I wanted to do, but Honestly had no idea. I knew I was good with numbers, and that is exactly what I told my High school guidance counselor on career day, when he asked me what I wanted to do for the rest of my life. I had NO Idea, but I said I was good with numbers. All I remember from that conversation is what he said next,” Maybe you should consider going into accounting”. Well, when the time came to declare a Major in College…accounting it was. Now I have spent the past 35 years working in Accounting/Finance. I started my first 3 years in Public accounting and became a CPA, then spent the past 32 years in the Corporate world working for a large Beverage company (which I won’t name but often associated with RED).

Then one day, my wife and I were on a Beach vacation and we each had our toes in the sand talking about life. My wife is a Nurse (For 32 years now), and she said she loved the medical field but what she really wished she could do was HELP people…especially the elderly who needed help. She said this has always been her Passion…what makes her tick. Anyway, I started thinking, I knew deep down that I have also always had a strong desire to Help people as well...Probably the Christian in me. But I thought HOW? I have a great job and my company is very good to me, but outside of our Senior Management team and Stockholders I wasn’t really reaching a lot of people.
But what can I Do? I felt in my heart that God’s will for me was to help people, so I prayed for direction. As I did, I did an inventory of my strengths…I thought, I am patient, a pretty good listener, enjoy solving problems, and I know Accounting / Finance very well. Then one day I heard this guy on the radio talking to a bunch people who have all these Financial issues that have developed so much Stress in their lives. Couples that had built up so much Credit Card Debt they had no idea how to get out from under it. People that had no Savings or idea how to save. Never created a Budget or in some cases didn’t know what a Budget was. These people talked about wanting to help their children through College but had nothing saved. People who wanted to retire comfortably one day but had nothing tucked away. When their refrigerator broke, they had no idea how they were going to keep their food cold. As I listened to these people pour out their hearts to the talk show host, I realized that these were good people who had just made some innocent mistakes or in some cases just didn’t know anything about Finances (more likely, nobody ever taught them). Because of poor Financial habits, these same good people, were having a huge strain put on their marriages, relationships with friends and/or family members and just not happy. They were living very stressful lives. They weren’t sleeping at night and just saw their lives spiraling out of control.

Then a little light went off in my head. My AHA moment. My answer from above. I thought, this is it. This is how I can help people. These are the people that need help, and I have the skill set needed to provide that help. This idea was immediately felt in my core being and has now become my passion.
I no longer work in my Corporate role. My two daughters are now grown, and I no longer coach Basketball, Softball or go to school activities, so I have more time on my hands. I decided to start working as a Financial Coach to help as many people as I can get their life back in order.

I formed a Company named “Financially Fit Coaching”. My mission is to help as many people as possible get control of their Finances. I want to bring Hope to people who feel hopelessness. I want to provide Peace to those in distress. I want to fulfill the scripture in Deuteronomy 15:6 and make people Lenders and not Borrowers. I want people to be in happy marriages, enjoy life, and sleep like a baby at night!

I want to teach you how. My strategy is to simplify Finances for people…it is not as complicated as people think, and I want to show you how. I want to Empower people to take charge of their Finances. I follow the saying “You can feed someone a fish and they will eat for a day, or you can teach them how to fish and they will eat for a life time”. I want to teach you to Fish…so to speak!
